The official collaborative exhibition was held at the EYE OF GYRE gallery in Omotesando.

“A spiral is a circle that goes up or down. For me this spiral is a circle going up representing evolution.”

Inspired by these words and the world renown director’s artwork, SPIRAL, a special installation was designed by HOSOO to evoke the spirit of David Lynch through complex and multilayered textile and the construction of a “spiraling” space.

Throughout its 1200 years of history, Nishijin textiles have continued to evolve. With this exhibition, the Japanese traditional weaving culture has now made an encounter with the world of contemporary art. This is an event no person familiar with Nishijin would have previously imagined, marking a great moment not only for HOSOO but for the industry.
